Scrapes don't work
Article Abstract:
Deer hunters often rely too heavily on artificial broken-branches and scraped patches as a method of attracting bucks, but much remains unknown about the true purpose of such scrapes. Hub scrapes, scrape lines and edge scrapes require special planning in order to capitalize on them.

Mock scrapes & bogus branches
Article Abstract:
Mock scrapes are more effective than real scrapes in attracting white-tailed deer, and deer turn man-made licking branches into real ones. Deer do not always look around when approaching mock scrapes and licking branches, and they give hunters a good angle for taking a shot.

Playing the field
Article Abstract:
Hunters of white-tailed deer should examine which crops deer are eating during the early fall. Hunters should move their stands farther into the forest as the season progresses and set up their stands where the does are during the rut.
