The Kootenai River: big rainbows in big water
Article Abstract:
Felt-soled wading shoes or steam cleats are needed to fish for rainbow trout in Montana's fast-moving, strong Kootenai River where the water is frigid, even in mid-summer. Lures for various river conditions are described.

Gold medal rainbows

Colorado wildlife authorities designate certain streams and lakes as 'gold medal' when they offer great potential for trophy trout fishing. A stretch of the Colorado River near Parshall was recently designated as such.
