The old adage that 'practice makes perfect' is not necessarily true in the game of golf, particularly if it involves incorrect practice. The short game requires the type of practice that provides constant feedback. This feedback enhances muscle memory that a golfer can draw from for later swings.

To putt or to chip: that is the question when you're on the fringe

Shots from the fringe generally should be putted, rather than chipped, because the putt usually is the high-percentage shot. A putt should not be used, however, if the distance affects the perspective, if the ball is in a hole, or if the putt will go into high grass or the grain.

Long live the long putter
Article Abstract:
The use of the long putter should be restricted to putts inside of 10 feet, which is where it is most effective. Golfers have found the long putter to be ineffective at long distances because they are unable to find the right touch or aim the clubface correctly.
