Four boots designed for outdoorsmen such as hunters and fishermen are presented. These packboots from LL Bean, Lacrosse, Schnee, and Sorel, range in price from $135 to about $150. Heat packs worn inside of boots, and heated socks are also described. They range in price from $2.99 to $149.

Permethrin power: kryptonite for super-ticks

Permethrin-based products applied to gear and clothing are effective in repelling ticks. Using DEET-based insect repellants provides added protection. Ticks should be removed from skin using tweezers or Sawyer's Tick Pliers.
