Snowbound one hunter dead and 38 stranded: cold days in hell, Rockies style

A doctor who was hunting in the Weminuche Wilderness Area of Colorado was one of 39 hunters stranded after a large snowstorm. He tried to hike out to get help for the hunters, but the amount of snowfall slowed his hike. He eventually reached help. One hunter at a nearby camp died in the storm.

Hunters can develop frostbite in cold conditions if they are not properly prepared for the conditions. Care and treatment of injured tissues are described. Preparation techniques are presented to help prevent frostbite.
