Cal Ripken, Jr of the Baltimore Orioles has played in 1,735 consecutive games, although he is still well short of Lou Gehrig's record of 2,130. Orioles manager Johnny Oates is making plans to rest Ripken more, but in a way that will keep the streak alive.
