Evaluations of boat performance is not based entirely on hull design. Sea conditions, location and air temperature affects the speed and performance of a boat. Alterations in the center of gravity of ships with similar hulls and minute changes in propeller design also affect ship performance.

Recreational sailors and powerboaters have unfavorable images of each other, but in reality both groups have their personality faults. Sailors are too indolent and powerboaters are too impatient. Both groups need more tolerance for the the other.
