Scientists are now recommending vitamin supplements and many feel the standard recommended daily allowances may be too low. Supplements do not provide vitamins as well as food can, so foods rich in vitamins C and E, beta carotene and folic acids are listed.

Athletic men and women are more prone to eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa than average people. Some researchers believe that commitment to exercise can lead to eating disorders for some personality types or can worsen an existing problem.
