Take a hike
Article Abstract:
Jun 5 is National Trails Day, and people should celebrate the event by taking a hike and appreciating nature trails. Trails provide us with beauty, places to meet other hikers and buffer areas. The American Hiking Society is coordinating the National Trails Day.

Chaos rages in D.C.: give Congress your opinion about the Great Outdoors before it's too late
Article Abstract:
Budget cuts are causing Congress to eliminate conservation programs. This will lead to an increase in admission fees to parks, higher taxes on sports equipment, and lack of maintenance of trails. People who enjoy the outdoors should contact their legislators.

Following the AT into cyberspace
Article Abstract:
Backpacker magazine's Electronic Trailhead on America Online drew 200 hikers that divided into 60 teams to hike segments of the 2,158-mile Appalachian Trail starting on National Trails Day, Jun 3, 1995. The result was a victory for cyberhiking.
