Systemic wealth and debt accumulation: preparing to celebrate Jubilee 2000
Article Abstract:
The significance of the Canadian Ecumenical Jubilee Initiative's (CEJI) proposal in addressing injustice in the global economy and the ethical justification for this proposal are discussed. In addition, the economic possibilities suggested by the Ecumenical Coalition for Economic Justice (ECEJ), one of the coalitions participating in CEJI, are presented. The ECEJ proposes international debt relief and regulation of transnational investments in a manner that considers seriously the conditions of the middle and poor classes.
