Noureddine Morceli, Dan O'Brien and Moses Kiptanui did not win at the 1992 summer Olympics in Barcelona. Each athlete, however, has had other successes. O'Brien set a decathlon record and Morceli set a new world running record 11 days after the Olympics.

Surprise, surprise

Kenyan runners were expected to dominate the marathon as they have in the past, but all were surprised by the outcome of the Nov 3, 1996 event. Giacomo Leone of Italy came in first among the men, while Anuta Catuna of Romania led the women.
