Robert Lansdorp, is the most successful and influential coach of the open era having taught Pete Sampras, Tracy Austin, Lindsay Davenport, and Maria Sharapova. Lansdorp has accomplished all the success without having an academy or institutional support and is coaching exclusively in Southern California, mostly in tennis-rich precincts of suburban Los Angeles.

Celebrating a heady heroine

Romanian Virginia Ruzici was a pioneer in women's professional tennis. Although she did not achieve the same renown as her contemporaries Billie Jean King or Chris Evert, the holder of 14 singles titles helped revitalize the women's tour.
