The effect of exercise on clinical depression and depression resulting from mental illness; a meta-analysis
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that exercise can help counter clinical depression. In studies monitoring the impact of a regular exercise program on individuals diagnosed with clinical depression, levels of depression measured by standard deviation registered -.72 less for those who exercised. Research methodology included coded variables for subjects, design, dependent measure characteristics and exercise.

Affect and cognitive performance in high school wrestlers undergoing rapid weight loss
Article Abstract:
This article presents a study on the affects of rapid weight loss among high school wrestlers focusing on the impairment of short-term memory as a result of the loss of at least 5% of body weight prior to competition. Results show affective disturbances but not cognitive impairments.

Dose-response and mechanistic issues in the resistance training and affect relationship
Article Abstract:
The study examines the dose-response gradient of exercise induced affective change and the role of the stress response as a contributing mechanism. Results suggest that moderate activation of the stress response positively influences exercise induced affective change.
