The gender gap

Women outnumber and outcompete men in the amateur divisions of all the major breeds but in actual open-divisions, men ride the world-level champion pleasure horses. Top women trainers feel that the gender gap in open Western competition is because of cultural conditioning, physical and mental differences between the sexes, and home and family responsibilities of women.

Bobby Ingersoll remembers Kiger Cougar

Bobby Ingersoll purchased a Mustang King Cougar in the fall of 1991, and trained him for eight weeks. He showed King Cougar at the 1992 World Championship Snaffle Bit Futurity in Reno, Nivada, and King cougar came 21st out of 150-plus competitors.
