US Customs officials are using the methods of pirates in their efforts to stop drug smuggling by high-speed boats. A Supreme Court decision allows the arbitrary search and seizure of boats, and boaters' civil rights are in jeopardy.

Blade runner: Blackhawk drive: warp speed in our time
Article Abstract:
The performance of the MerCruiser Blackhawk was compared to that of the Bravo One in a Hallett 210 motorboat and an Eliminator 22 Daytona catamaran. The new drive increased speed by 6 mph and 13.7 mph, respectively.

A boater can most effectively use radar to navigate an unfamiliar river by properly orienting it, preparing a chart and maintaining a calm attitude. Overtaking and passing other boats is a dangerous maneuver.
