Explicit Solutions of M-G-C- -N-Type Queuing Loops with Generalizations
Article Abstract:
Developments in queuing theory since 1980 have relied upon a theorem advanced by Cox which involves what were later called RTL (rational Laplace transform) servers. The present paper extends previous work to consider a service center involving several RLT servers. Explicit steady-state solutions of M-G-C- -N-type loops depending on recursively-defined matrices are found. A recursive algorithm is developed for evaluating the properties of small and medium-sized systems. By letting the customer population go to infinity, a solution to the M-G-C open system may be found. Diagrams illustrate the M-G-2- -N queuing loop and an m-stage representation of a general server.
