The relationship between %HR(sub.peak) and %VO(sub.2peak) in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Article Abstract:
The relationship between percent peak heart rate (%HR(sub.peak)) and the percent peak oxygen consumption (%VO(sub.2peak)) in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) has been studied. The relationship described by the American College of Sports Medicine is not applicable to those with COPD. According to the group, 50, 60, 80 and 85% of VO(sub.2peak) represent 62, 70, 85, and 90% of HR(sub.peak).

Relationship between leucine oxidation and oxygen consumption during steady-state exercise
Article Abstract:
This article examines the effects of prolonged, moderate exercise on oxygen consumption and whole-body oxidation of leucine in sixteen adults on a controlled diet. Findings indicate that steady-state exercise resulted in an increase in oxygen consumption and leucine oxidation and significantly reduced the disposal of non-oxidative leucine.

The oxygen uptake response running to exhaustion at peak treadmill speed
Article Abstract:
Results point out that peak treadmill speed and maximal oxygen uptake measurements during speed-incremented continuous maximal oxygen uptake tests are reliable. However, not all the subjects running at peak treadmill speed attained an oxygen uptake response similar to those recorded during incremental tests.
