Olaudah Equiano was an African slave who earned his freedom through sheer hard work and loyalty to his master and his friend, the sable captain. After sailing with the captain and profiting from buying and selling across islands, Equiano bought his freedom and sailed to England as a free man.

Sydney-Hobart report
Article Abstract:
The annual Sydney-Hobart boat yacht race suffered its worst disaster in 1997 when storms capsized and wrecked seven boats which led to the death of six participants. The most damaged yachts were the Business Post Naiad, Winston Churchill and Stand Aside.
