The sailing life style and views on Carleton Mitchell's three straight Bermuda Race victories aboard Finisterre in 1956, 1958, and 1960 is narrated. Experiences on Caribbee inspired Mitchell's book Passage East, which is the story of a challenging voyage with meditations on the fascinating, elusive relationship between sea and sailors.

Adagio passage

Adagio, a 52-foot catamaran first developed by cruisers Steve Darden and Dorothy Darden took two years to design and three and a half to build, aimed to minimize crew fatigue on offshore passages. Adagio was the first sail, boat speed rarely below 10 knots while sailing into 25 to 30 knots of wind for 5 hours.

Beating the cold
Article Abstract:
The clothing and techniques that enable a sailor to stay warm in a sailing environment are discussed. It is suggested that food enriched with fats and proteins provide warmth to the sailors for a long time in the cold environment.
