George W. Perry caught a 22 lb. 4 oz. largemouth bass in Georgia in 1932, a world record. There are some mysteries surrounding the story behind the catch, such as some documentation questions. These are explored.

The advantages and pleasures of kayak fishing are discussed. The experience of bass fishing in a kayak in the Mississippi River is recalled and advice on good locations in the US for kayak angling is offered.

In search of a 10 pound bass

One of the best places to try to catch a 10-pound bass is Lake Okeechobee in Florida. Other good lakes are Rodman Pool in Florida, Lake Fork and Sam Rayburn in Texas and Castaic Lake in California.
