The waterproof boot test

Lightweight waterproof hiking boots need to fit well, keep the foot dry and protect the sole. Ten boots are rated on a scale of one to five, and four received an overall 4.5 rating. These include the Adidas Trekker at $175, the Asolo AFX 570 at $200 and others. Weight, fit, durability and other factors are each rated.

The One Sport Moraine ($199) and Tecnica Gressoney ($195) boots garnered the highest overall ratings and were superior in areas such as weight, water-proofness, and on and off-trail performance. Criteria for selecting the boots tested included full-grain leather upper and prices of $200 or less.
