Horn wars: antler hunters are running rampant and elk are paying the price
Article Abstract:
Yellowstone National Park, home to 35,000 elk, bans the collection of elk antlers, but that has not stopped poachers. The horn is valued as an aphrodisiac in some Asian countries and can fetch $5-$12 per pound. Violaters are usually fined $750-$3,000, not enough to deter them.
