A writer discusses his five-week training with swimming coach Lisa Baumann at AquaFit Masters program in East Meadow, NY. The writer, who dreams of setting a sub-60-second record in the 100-yard butterfly, initially underwent exertion-related workouts which require focus and concentration. On the third week of training, he underwent a fly-focused session which involves performance of different swimming exercises such as dolphin-kicking and head-up swimming.

Article Abstract:
Double up, side step and jogging are some of the plyometric exercises that can be undertaken to improve start in swimming. In doing double up, a swimmer has to stand in neck-deep water while facing the pool's wall. While grabbing the edge of the pool with both hands and feet placed on the wall, the swimmer bends the knees until they touch the chest. After bending, the body is pushed away from from the wall until both legs are completely straightened.
