Lab tests have shown that wine can destroy the kind of bacteria travelers associate with diarrhea. Although the tests are not conclusive, a bit of wine of any color might be an excellent traveler's aid. Researchers have isolated polyphenols as the active substances. Travel health tips are given.

Research indicates that fish oil may prevent the deterioration of kidneys as a result of IgA nephropathy. Patients were given 12 grams of fish oil daily. The study does not indicate whether fish oil delays or prevents kidney decay altogether.
