Hunting guide Tim Doud has won the Wyoming elk-calling championship twice, and has a reputation for putting his hunters onto big bulls. Whilst the Washakie Wilderness is good for elk hunting, it also has a high concentration of grizzly bears. Doud has made bear safety a main element of his hunting strategy, and also teaches courses on 'Safety for People, Safety for Bears".

A hunter's hearing-impaired father was an avid but unsuccessful hunter except for once, when he shot a 10-point buck that became a legend in the camp ever since. The son bagged an identical trophy buck exactly 40 years later. He vows to keep looking for his father's buck, which had been stolen.
