Article Abstract:
The recent developments in the Turkish cement industry and its governmentEs efforts to bring itself out of three years of recession are discussed. The previous government's decision to decrease public investments is one of the main factors for recession in the cement industry but the new government's two major projects including the construction of 1.5 million housing units and 15,000 km of expressway is expected to increase cement consumption by eight to ten percent and revive the construction sector.

Largest single kiln line in Turkey
Article Abstract:
Founded in 1966, NUH CIMENTO SANAYI A.S.,Turkey, located near the town of Hereke, approx. 60 km to the east of Istanbul is in the process of constructing a third kiln line to double its clinker production capacity. After the commissioning of the third kiln line, with OMAG-Montanlagenbau GmbH, Austria acting as integrator and co-coordinator on behalf of NUH CEMENTO SANAYI, production capacity of the plant will increase to more than 4 million tpa by the end of 2004, thus making it very profitable.

Iran: Output to double
Article Abstract:
It is reported that Iran's cement production will reach 30 million tons by March 2004 and the Iranian Government is planning to double the production in the next ten years. In order to double its Cement production by the next decade, the Government of Iran plans to build 20 new production facilities based on privatization and the state's oil revenues, which will effectively close the gap between rising demand and production capacity.
