Article Abstract:
Fourteen male mountain bikers were studied to determine factors which would contribute to improving a biker's speed. These factors include power lactate threshold, anaerobic power, technique and strength. Workout techniques that can help improve cycling speed are presented.

Professional bicycle rider Lance Armstrong returned to competitive racing after a bout with cancer by following an easy training program. The program included aerobic base training, muscle endurance, base conditioning and resistance training and race-specific training.

Bicycling enthusiasts can increase the strength of the upper-body pulling muscles by performing off-bike exercises. Recommended exercises are the dumbbell row, the upright row and pull-ups. The exercises take about 10 minutes and are to be done three times a week.
