The uniqueness of the Holocaust
Article Abstract:
The Holocaust's uniqueness is due to the special nature of the experience, rather than its scale. The Holocaust is unique because of its fusion of collective humiliation and mass destruction. The uniqueness of the process of extermination is a derivative of the uniqueness of the German attitude towards the Jews and their destruction. The Germans were more unique than the Jews since they did not accept the idea of common humanity, and they incorporated this denial in their process of humiliation and extermination of the Jews. The Holocaust is viewed as a period of historical beginning and post-Holocaust history as radically discontinuous.

Cash in the bank
Article Abstract:
A UK hospital's use of the bank system saves it money and tests the goodwill of nursing staff in the short term, but may also create long-term problems in staffing. When a nurse has to work longer than contracted hours on a shift, and the payment is switched to a bank contract rather than overtime, the saving is 6.14 pounds sterling per hour for an F- or G-grade nurse, but the health authority is also disguising the true staffing requirements and costs. This underestimation of staffing requirements has implications for future recruitment of nursing staff.
