When the plot thickens
Article Abstract:
A ship's pilot describes his experience of being caught in the aftermath of Hurricane Klaus on board a vintage cutter from Beaufort, North Carolina, to Anguilla, in the Eastern Caribbean and how difficult it was for him to find his way back to shore in the darkness of the night. He feels navigation in the existing times has changed for the better since he now uses a PC-driven chartplotter as his primary navigation system that encourages a pilot's belief in the chart on the screen and makes a good pilot a better one.
