Extreme weather makes skiing in the East adventurous, even though the slopes are not as steep as they are in the West and the snow is not as deep and light. Twelve of the best ski areas in the East are described, including Sugarloaf in Maine, Tremblant in Quebec and Stowe in Vermont.
