Why Weight? (weight training can be beneficial in the treatment of running injuries)

Jim Porterfield is an athletic trainer and physical therapist who feels that weight training can be used for the treatment and prevention of running injuries. Porterfield focuses on the upper and lower back, abdominals, glutes, quadriceps and hamstrings, which are areas that must be strong for overall balance to be maintained. Muscles can act as a shock absorber to reduce stress.
