The Farallones are a group of seven rocky islands about 30 miles west of San Francisco, CA. The islands are a wildlife refuge closed to visitors and boats nearby must observe restrictions. Resident biologists study the islands' seabirds and monitor whales, seals, sea lions and other sea life.

The America's Cup sailboat racing organizers need to establish a long-term strategy for marketing the sports in view of the difficulty of getting team sponsors. The amount of money needed to finance a sailboat racing team is substantially larger than for other sports.
