Backseat safety belt use and crash outcome
Article Abstract:
The risk factors for safety belt non-use by backseat passenger's age 16 or older are examined and crash outcomes between belted and unbelted backseat occupants involved in crashes are compared. The result shows that driver's alcohol involvement, male gender, and nighttime crashes are associated with non-use of safety belt by adult backseat occupants and these backseat nonusers of safety belt relate to higher rates in hospitalization, traumatic brain injury and vertebral cord injury.

A comparison of aggressive and DUI crashes
Article Abstract:
The study is carried out to determine the characteristics of and outcomes associated with aggressive driving crashes compared to both DUI (Driving Under the Influence of alcohol) and other (non-DUI and non aggressive) crashes. The findings suggest that aggressive driving and DUI need attention and public education and other efforts to lower the morbidity and mortality associated with these crashes.

Recent estimates of safety belt use
Article Abstract:
The National Occupant Protection Use survey (NOPUS) shows that safety belt use in the United States has increased steadily over the past. The NOPUS suggest that children are 3-4 times as likely to be unrestrained when riding with an unbuckled driver as when driving with a buckled driver.
