Chinese puzzle
Article Abstract:
The decreasing value of the Korean and Japanese currencies in international markets has crated a disastrous impact on China's shipbuilding sector. The inability of Chinese shipbuilders to compete aggressively with their Japanese counterparts in terms of price and quality has resulted in fewer orders. Analysts, however, have expressed optimism that the Chinese shipbuilding industry would be able to recover from the crisis, as the value of won is expected to increase.

Yards under pressure
Article Abstract:
The stock market crisis in Asia proves to be disastrous for Chinese shipbuilders who have been struggling to fill up their order books due to the weakening value of the won. Problems are further compounded by the uncompetitive prices offered by Chinese operators which have undermined building operations in major yards. These problems, however, are being addressed through the improvement of facilities and addition of several production lines.
