FTA nears completion of key BRT document
Article Abstract:
The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has undertaken an effort to come up with a key document, "The Characteristics of Bus Rapid Transit" for the communities interested in bus rapid transit (BRT) to enable them to make good business decisions about its implementation. A group of 20 members from different states of the US including communities already having BRT systems, the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) and several bus manufacturers are working on the document.

Article Abstract:
Survival strategies like downsizing positions and reducing services, taken up by various transit agencies in the wake of recession in United States have been described. The adverse consequences of the recession including increase in fuel prices on transit agencies have been provided.
