Hybrid promises high speed with low power
Article Abstract:
SES Europe AS is developing a high-end shipbuilding design that combines the features of a catamaran and a surface effect ship (SES). Sources revealed that the Norwegian company has already developed a 23m-fast ferry prototype of the concept, which would allow ferries to accelerate beyond the 40 to 60 knot level. The system features the use of a low-resistance hull form, which permits ferries to operate on high speeds and low pressure while eliminating the need for flexible seals.
