Omaha looks ahead with a retro bus fleet

The steps taken by Metro Area Transit (MAT) to renovate and modernize old 1948 to 1955 built GM 3501 and 3502 buses that ran in Omaha and Council Bluffs, Iowa bought from Sklener Truck and Equipment have been described. The Metro Area Transit's (MAT) plan to ply the old buses again on the streets of Omaha is hampered because of lack of funds.

Article Abstract:
Pros and cons of using electronic equipment to counter terrorist attacks on a passenger rail system in United States are discussed. It is necessary to presume that probability of such attacks is much more than it actually is. Training transit police force to handle such situations goes a long way in improving security of passengers.
