Pegasus flies across the Channel
Article Abstract:
The Fincantieri - Cantieri Navali Italiani S.p.A. has launched its new passenger ferry for the Newhaven-Dieppe route. The Pegasus One which is on charter to Stena Line, features a V-shaped aluminum alloy-monohull that extends to the stern to enhance seakeeping performance. The V-shaped design provides high resistance at low speed and low resistance at high speed. The German-built MTU 20V 1163 TB 73L diesel engines and the four Kamewa 112 type waterjets provide an accumulated speed of 36 knots and generates 23 536kW of power.

Speed is of the essence
Article Abstract:
Attica Enterprises rapid growth and prosperity since its inception in 1993 is due to its conventional displacement ferries called Superfast I and Superfast II, which the company claims have captured almost 50% of the vehicle-and-passenger on the 500-nautical-mile route between Patras, Greece, and Ancona, Italy. Attica enlisted the services of a new shipyard to build its Superfast III and IV, and their increased propulsion power and modified hull form will likely give Attica a stronger competitive edge in the Adriatic.
