Retrofit of a SIP lubrication system
Article Abstract:
China Shipbuilding Corporation (CSBC) has carried out three Swirl Injection Principle (SIP) to achieve a better cylinder oil distribution through oil atomization and the scavenging of air swirl. The main advantage of SIP is that it makes possible to operate the main engine while consuming less cylinder lub oil and minimizing wear to the cylinder liner, compared with traditional lubrication.
