Trials and tribulations of the marine diesel
Article Abstract:
The early days of diesel engine in the marine industry and its subsequent development are detailed. Ludwig Nobel developed a reversible two-stroke engine for marine applications and it is considered as one of the most significant contribution to the diesel marine propulsion engines. This reversing system is still used as the basic principle in all moveable camshaft engines.
