The fiercely competitive business landscape in Canada has made customer service critical to organizational survival. Yet customer relations is quite difficult to duplicate, and this is why it remains an element that continues to distinguish a successful business from the rest of the competition. Notwithstanding the difficulty of building and maintaining excellent customer service, Canadian enterprises must learn to match US customer-focused training procedures and effectively teach and maintain staff to provide top-notch service.

These include the suitability of the job to the individual employee; mutual respect between employees and supervisor; reflection of employer's proper treatment of employees on the happiness of staff; opportunity for career advancement or job security; an attractive salary package, benefits and rewards; comfortable work environment as well as relationships with co- workers.
