Duncan Phillips
Article Abstract:
The Phillips family has opened its third Gulliver theme park in the UK. The location for the theme park, Gulliver's Land, is Milton Keynes. The family launched its business with the opening of Gulliver's Kingdom in Derbyshire in 1978 and went on to open Gulliver's World in Warrington in 1989. The concept for all three parks is the same, with the target audience being families with children between the ages of two and twelve. The family business, run by parents Ray and Hilary and children Nick, Julie and Duncan, designs the parks, constructs the buildings and builds most attractions.

Short and sweet
Article Abstract:
Evidence from politics, advertising and entertainment indicates that human attention spans are getting shorter. This has implications for theme parks. Some attraction experiences are getting shorter in duration but the intensity of the experience will have to increase, and parks need to address problems with queue lengths. Parks should also offer more variety as each new experience creates the beginning of a new attention span. A major change is that visitors are making shorter visits to parks and impulse visits are increasing. This increases the attraction of single-themed venues.
