Former Soviet states start up fairs in bid to launch tourism
Article Abstract:
Croatia is one of seven former Soviet states planning to hold tourism fairs during 1995 in an attempt to relaunch tourism. The others include Slovenia, Slovakia, the Russian Federation, Poland, Hungary, and the Czech Republic. Croatia is to hold a trade fair (ITTF) in May in Zagreb, although the International Autumn Fair, held in September will be open to the public. Hungary is offering two shows, one in March for the summer, and one in November called the Snow Show.

High Korean hotel prices hit tourism
Article Abstract:
Korea has projected receiving 4.2 million arrivals for 1996, despite a disappointing 3.9 million visitors in 1995. The Korean National Tourism Organisation (KNTO) expects 500,000 US visitors, 2 million Japanese, and a further 1 million from Asia. It is suggested that to date tourism has been affected by high hotel prices and the development of the Chinese tourist industry.

Peace gives Ireland's tourism growth a boost
Article Abstract:
Overseas visitors to Ireland increased in 1994 due to the ceasefire and peace process, and they are expected to increase again in 1995. Almost 40% of Ireland's overseas tourism earnings are from continental Europe. The Irish Tourist Board is to undertake promotions in 20 countries during 1995.
