Canada's top five chicken chains underwent important changes in 1999 that fueled sales growth. These five chains, namely Tricon Global Restaurants (Canada) Inc's KFC Canada, Cara Operations Ltd's Swiss Chalet, St Hubert Bar-B-Q Ltd, Dixie Lee Food Systems Ltd and Mary Brown's Inc, had combined sales of C$1.39 billion in 1999, compared with C$1.32 billion in 1998. Significant changes implemented by these chains include aggressive expansion, corporate restructuring, re-imaging and co-branding.
