Let the good times roll
Article Abstract:
Some observers have criticised changes made at Times Square, New York, New York, during the renovation of the site whilst others have pointed out the area has improved enormously and is safer for visitors. Street crime has fallen by 47% since 1993, partly due to the employment of public safety officers. About 20 million people visit Times Square yearly. The regeneration of the site took around five years. Several major leisure operators have opened outlets on the site. The Times Square Business Improvement District gathers $6 million in taxes annually.
