Making the grade
Article Abstract:
The UK leisure industry saw mixed stock market performance in 1998, and this means that leisure operators will have to work hard to boost the confidence of investors in 1999. Prospects for 1999 remain mixed, although leisure stocks could benefit from recent cuts in base rates, which tend to make investors favour cyclical sectors. Interest in leisure stocks among investors will be based on the prospect of corporate activity, particularly consolidation.
