Spanish spectacular
Article Abstract:
The new 300 million pounds sterling Port Aventura theme park has opened in Spain. The park is managed, and 40%-owned by, The Tussauds Group. Theme park operator and brewer Anheuser-Busch of the United States also has a 20% stake. Port Aventura comprises five 'lands' and is fundamentally a theme park. The entry costs have been kept at an affordable level, unlike Disneyland Paris which has had to frequently lower its prices to maintain customer goodwill. Port Aventura is targeting a modest 2.5 million visitors in its first year. It will also only be open from May-October. The theme park is described.

Tony Baxter
Article Abstract:
Tony Baxter is an innovative amusements designer who has worked on Disney entertainment park projects since 1972. His work includes the Magic Kingdom and Big Thunder Mountain at Disneyland, Florida. He is currently working as team leader for Disneyland Paris on the redevelopment of Disney's Tomorrowland and space pavillion entertainments. He travels to other staged events to consider different methods of construction.
