The bass market: as the pub sector booms, Bass Taverns develops more brands to target the market niches
Article Abstract:
Bass Taverns, a drinks and retailing division of the leisure and brewing company, earmarked 300 million pounds sterling for 1996-97 for the development of new brands and pubs. The company is also undertaking many acquisitions, building up established brands and seeking new markets. John Denning, head of drinks retailing, believes that the student market is currently under-developed, and Bass Taverns has launched a dedicated student offer. Its O'Neills Irish pub chain is claimed to be the largest Irish pub chain in the world. Bass Taverns has also had success with catering, and its food is tailored to certain market sectors.
