The politics of perception: Legislative images of the tourism industry in Virginia and North Carolina
Article Abstract:
The perceptions of state legislators in North Carolina and Virginia, US of the tourism industry are examined, focusing specifically on image and knowledge of the industry and recommendations regarding lobbying techniques. Results reveal that legislators hold a positive image of tourism in their respective states but are not very knowledgeable about its economic impact, and in regard to lobbying, they prefer constituent-based techniques to classic, such as direct and electronic, techniques.

Progress in tourism satellite account implementation and development
Article Abstract:
The worldwide implementation of tourism satellite accounts (TSA) at the national level are reviewed to examine the experiences of countries with TSA projects and identify the problems encountered by those implementing the new 2001 international standard. It is revealed that an increasing number of countries are developing a TSA, following the approach of the United National World Tourism Organization Tourism Satellite Account: Recommended Methodological Framework (TSA-RMF).
