Trade fails to cash in on potentially huge market
Article Abstract:
The tourist industry is failing to recognise that gay people have more disposable income than heterosexual couples. A publication called "Gay to Z" lists gay-friendly companies in the UK and covers every area of business. There are few travel agents listed. Gay customers prefer to arrange their own holidays via the gay media to avoid the embarrassment of booking in person, and tend to want to avoid going to resorts which are family- orientated. They prefer gay locations, such as Mykonos or Sitges, which are no longer listed in high street brochures.

Hong Kong happy to live with China
Article Abstract:
The international business community seems to have confidence in the future of Hong Kong after it returns to Chinese sovereignty in Jul 1997. This is reflected in high levels of bookings for the Hong Kong convention and exhibition centre. The Hong Kong Tourist Association believes that the change in Hong Kong's status in 1997 represents a unique opportunity for it to attract international interest. The organisation is confident that Hong Kong will remain the leading travel destination in Asia.
